The Worldwide Paralympic Committee (IPC) introduced on Wednesday that it might enable Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete as neutrals on the Paralympic Video games, which run from March 4 to March 13 in Beijing, China.
IPC President Andrew Parsons mentioned the board was “united in its condemnation” of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, however that its resolution was guided by its “constitutional function and handbook.”
Following the IPC’s announcement, Parsons was questioned by a protester who requested what he would say to the household of Ukranian biathlete Yevhen Malyshev, who was reportedly killed in Kharkiv.
“I wish to know what you’d say to them about permitting athletes from the aggressor states to compete, when he won’t ever get that probability,” he mentioned.
Parsons agreed it’s “completely not honest” that Russian and Belarus athletes would be capable to compete whereas Malyshev wouldn’t, however reiterated that the IPC needed to comply with its personal “guidelines and rules” on competing.
