eu simplesmente amo meu país ♡🇧🇷
Oh, guy! It's not right! But if you're a communist, it looks like the right way. At this time, we had to beat a revolution based on the Cubas mechanism. Sorry!
Listen and learn USA: when your government turns against you, this may be one of the few realistic way to protest without being… hmmm… asked for a little conversation in the FBI basements…
SPONSORED BY THE USA!
Say that part a little louder for the gringos in the back.
YET ANOTHER COUP IN LATIN AMERICA SPONSORED BY THE USA!!!!!
I wonder what would you come up with if you were to make a video about "Canto das Três Raças" by Clara Nunes. Also, as a Brazilian, thank you for telling our history for what it is, cause even here nowadays there's an alarming growing number of people denying the coup and dictatorship.
1:21 you forget to mention that brazil was run as basically an oligarchy at that point and that election was rigged so that is way they revolted
My great grandfather, who strongly opposed to the government, was found all beaten up on the streets, and then they rushed him to the hospital. In the hospital, he was poisoned and died. My grandmother was around 6-8 years old
And now Chico Buarque is side by side the most corrupt president ever, Lula da Silva, who is side by side all the dictatorship in the world. How amazing.
So, you teach piano by using what is probably some of the most complex musical harmonies known to mankind? In any case, I love the analysis. I also like how dictators will never be smart enough to even understand what you just said. So, us musicians will be able to get our message across and the dictators won't even have a clue.
I hate how people magnify Getulio Vargas for the Labor/Working Laws and completely disregard the fact that he closed Congress and made the New State Dictatorship that took lives too, over a thousand lives. Its awful that we got so many disturbingly beautiful art from such awful moments, that maniac was trying to bring back (former president: bozo) 😢
Cada cierto tiempo regreso a ver este video y me parece espectacular <3
Congratulations on your research into brazilian history. It is surely necessary for the people to understand the lyrics.
Como se diz em Minas, Fica bão de mais da conta sô !
Greetings from Brazil!
Great video.
It feels so sad that as a brazilian, our music which used to be so beautiful and full of depth and protests became this annoying and repetitive pop music that they call "funk". It's so rare to hear good music in our country nowadays. But we are still proud of the music we did before!
Thank you for this vídeo. As a brazilian I'm happy to see bossa nova being appreciated. Here our battle against fascism is constant, and music is in the core of this fight!
3:34 historical inaccuracy!
Getúlio Vargas actually accepted his defeat. but the revolutionist forced him into the presidency
Hello From Brasil
I love this video
You demonstrated that you understand more about Brazil than some Brazilians haha
Thank you for sharing part of our history and culture in such a well-explained way.
Só tem brasileiro nos comentários kkkkkk complicado
you can say the word. it wasn't a revolution. it was a coup.
Hi CharlesCornell, im a Brazilian, Fluent at english, however, im happy to see you're the first person by USA or other country you live, well, im also happy that you brought History & Songs to this video, im not an history proffesional but you forgot AI-1, AI-2, AI-3 and AI-4, i thank you because im studying some type of songs on Arts, welp, hugs from BGP and we see someday 😀
Faltou legenda em portugues
The only upside to an oppressive regime is that it unwillingly squeezes out fantastic art.
Hey man, I'm Brazilian and I really wanted to understand your video better, can you make the subtitles available in Portuguese?
I swear that song by Chico sounds very similar to a James Bond theme but, I forget which movie
Good video. Some brazilians don’t know about it. Well researched.
Brazil -a never ending drama… even today ! So much promise, so much hope and then always collapsing in a heap. Well presented Charles !
forgot to mention Rita Lee's song "macarrão com linguiça e pimenta" (pasta with sausage and peppers) which is literally a recipe, this song is a criticism of censorship, as they randomly put recipes on TV programs replacing the news that was censored.
Btw, Rita Lee was arrested by the military some time later while she was pregnant (they were waiting for her to slip up so they could arrest her), she almost went bankrupt because she spent all her money on lawyers, but Elis Regina, who was the biggest singer at the time, helped Rita recover.
João Goulart, with a hard G, like in GIF, rather than GIF
JK, GET rather than GIRAFFE
Cool video!
Hi, Charles! It's me again! Very, very, very, congratulations about your huge knolegement about my country and the way you got explain by your vídeo. Understanding the history is esier and accurate undertand the culture and in special music. Congrats, guy!
Did you saw the translation of lyrics? I know there are many cultural poetical brazilian characteristics, but just to you know there are many metaphors. And the bigest is that female Sabiá, the bird, of one musics on your video, doesn't sings – just the male- as says the lyric. It means return to a Brazil that doesen't exist.
@joaorobertomarone5419
Chico Buarque is the best composer of Brazil. He is a chronist. And, im my opinion, is the best of the world. And Construção is elected by the intelectual people and music critics as a brazilian music masterpeace of all Brazil's history! Best regards.
Thank you bro !!!🤗🇧🇷❤️
Great video, You picked the two best songs to make people understand that musical und political history. Unfortunately the song Sabiá is quite underestimated, but with your short explication of the harmonics people might listen to it a second time.. It´s so beautyful. – Thanks from a Brasilian, born 1962.
as a musician and history teacher from brasil, i would say that this video is more than solid! 🇧🇷🫶🫶🫶
the fact that you did not talk about "apesar de voce" shows that you don't know this subject almost at all
Modern brasil does not produce anything of any depth.
can you tell us the name of the song at 0:35?
Muito obrigado!
