Amid the ongoing tense standoff between US and Russia over Ukraine, Alaska has emerged as the latest flashpoint. Billboards reading ‘Alaska is Ours’ have been spotted in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk city and the sign has gone viral on social media. The sign was spotted a day after Putin’s ally, Vyacheslav Volodin, threatened to ‘take back’ Alaska in response to US sanctions. In March, Russian State Duma member Oleg Matveychev also called on the Kremlin to reclaim Alaska. After Ukraine, US and Russia to clash over Alaska?

I recall hearing rumours that during the Cold War, local Inuit hunters on St. Lawrence Island spotted Soviet Spetsnaz (Special Forces) troops doing covert missions. Any real information is probably still buried in some Top Secret Pentagon file.
I really don't understand how Russia can be so beautiful and have many of the most beautiful women in the world yet have the most fouled up, asinine government headed by a greedy flaming asshole who wants massive chunks of land when they have done little to develop their own resource-rich country. Russia is losing big-time militarily against a country a tenth their own size who are whipping Russian ass with weapons brought out of mothballs, borrowed from other countries and purchased from almost every country except China and North Korea (of course). If Russia is losing so badly against a satellite, backwoods country, what in the world makes them think they can swoop in on Alaska and take it away from us? Does Putin and his commie cohorts believe the US military is so weak they could pull this off?

But, what about Puerto Rico? The United States (US) militarily invaded Puerto Rico 127 years ago to make her its colony. The US has consistently refused to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding that it immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. In the meantime, 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned our national territory (gentrification), and half of the 3 million who live in Puerto Rico live in poverty! If the US were a real “campion of democracy”, it would be lifting 40 million Americans out of poverty today, and helping 201 million US citizens who are presently living from paycheck to paycheck. But what does the US do instead? The US decides to put another North Atlantic Treaty Organization military base at Russia’s doorstep, and to unconditionally support the genocide against the indigenous people of Palestine against international law. No wonder the world considers the US as the biggest threat to peace! The US is a nation of, for, and by oligarchs. Make America the greatest empire ever!
