Finland’s President Alexander Stubb has issued a sharp warning to the West and the United States, saying Washington risks “losing the game” to the Global South if it fails to adopt a more dignified and cooperative approach. Naming India directly, Stubb stressed that Western powers cannot afford to alienate countries of the Global South, especially at a time when blocs like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) are gaining influence. His remarks come as trade tensions between India and the US deepen after President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on Indian goods over New Delhi’s continued purchase of Russian oil.
