A YOUNG mum has died during a bum lift surgery which was reportedly gifted to her as a birthday treat.
Marilha Menezes Antunes, 28, suffered internal bleeding, believed to be linked to a punctured organ, during the liposuction operation.

Her devastated family are now pleading for answers to uncover when Marilha’s fatal injuries occurred.
Her sister Léa Carolina, who accompanied her to the private clinic along with their father, says Marilha was healthy and underwent all the correct tests prior to the operation.
Léa recalled overhearing a nurse urgently calling for an ambulance just as the mum-of-one went under the knife.
She told local media: “I went up to the operating room and saw the doctor trying to resuscitate my sister.
“I asked what he needed, and he said oxygen.
“I called the emergency ambulance service and then the Military Police, because the doctor wasn’t explaining what had happened.”
After Marilha’s tragic passing was confirmed, a doctor told her family the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
The family was told Marilha had suffered a bronchoaspiration moments before she passed away on Monday, September 8.
But an autopsy carried out the following day found she’d died from hypovolemic shock- or internal bleeding.
This is believed to have been caused by perforating blunt-force trauma which punctured an organ and caused fatal haemorrhaging.
Relatives insist Marilha was healthy and had undergone all the required pre-surgery tests.
They now want answers from the clinic in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Léa said. “My sister was full of life.
“I took her to make a dream come true, and instead she met death.”
AMACOR clinic, where the surgery took place, has since responded to Marilha’s passing.
They said in a statement: “AMACOR is classified as a day hospital, and its surgical centre functions as a facility rented by independent medical teams to carry out procedures.
“Our responsibility is to provide the infrastructure and guidance for local medical practice.
“The surgical centre is fully equipped with all essential devices for handling cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies.”
It added that the medical team acted immediately after “”detecting signs of haemodynamic instability during the procedure”.
Marilha worked as an occupational safety technician at an aviation company.
She leaves behind a six-year-old son.
