A SUSPECT has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman on a train in Paris – after horrific footage of the alleged attack spread online.
Brazilian national Jhordana Dias, 26, claimed she was slapped, bit and chocked by a man who attempted to remove her underwear earlier this month.
Police have now arrested a 26-year-old Egyptian man – who was not carrying identity documentation when he was cuffed, according to local media.
It comes after viral social media footage showed the suspect on board a train carriage moments after the alleged assault.
In the clip, the suspect wears a black tracksuit and cap, and flees the scene as the train arrives at the next station.
The alleged victim can be heard crying, while the person behind the camera starts saying at the man: “You stay there!”

Moments later, the man begins to approach the camerawoman, who has now been hailed a hero by the alleged victim, before the train stops and he disembarks.
The accused man was detained on Friday evening by transport police in Mantes-la-Jolie, north-west of Paris, local media reported.
The alleged ordeal assault unfolded on October 15 between Choisy-le-Roi and Villeneuve-le-Roi train stations.
Jhordana told Le Parisien that the man, just after boarding, pushed her and attempted to pull down her underwear.
She said: “When the doors dinged to close, the attacker jumped on the train, and then I realised I was alone with him. And that’s when the attacks began.
“He pulled down my trousers, choked me, and tried to kiss me by force. I didn’t want to kiss him.”
Jhordana’s brother said his sister fought for her life.
He explained that when she tried to fight him off, he allegedly strangled and tried to rape her.
The alleged victim’s brother said she called him right after the ordeal, before he spoke to the heroic camerawoman.
The brother also asked the passerby to stay with his sister and contact cops.
Images also showed Jhordana face scarred by bruising and cuts.
Her brother also revealed Jhordana had been in France for two months prior to the alleged attack.
