Speaking at the bridge’s inauguration on Wednesday, Prabowo said the infrastructure will ease travel for visitors and residents while opening opportunities for businesses to expand and attract new investment.
“Later, the hotels around here will be designed with our own architectural identity, ensuring harmony with local culture and the surrounding environment,” the President said.
He added that the project supports the third mission of Asta Cita, which focuses on creating quality jobs, promoting entrepreneurship, advancing creative industries, and continuing nationwide infrastructure development.
Before the bridge opened, Prabowo said residents and tourists faced lengthy detours to reach destinations on both sides of the Progo River, slowing mobility and limiting economic activity.
The new route is expected to foster fresh economic centers, especially in tourism, by connecting communities more efficiently and creating entry points for future investment and local business expansion.

“We hope this bridge will improve tourism, boost economic activity, and provide easier access. Without it, people had to spend extra time taking long detours,” he said.
Prabowo said development around the bridge will follow an integrated plan shaped by recommendations from Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X to ensure cultural and environmental alignment.
He emphasized that micro, small, and medium enterprises will remain central to regional economic strengthening and will benefit from increased visitor traffic and improved infrastructure.
“We will mentor MSMEs so they maintain cleanliness, provide proper facilities, and serve as primary drivers of tourism activities in this region,” Prabowo said.
The government will also encourage investment in hotels featuring Indonesian-style architecture that respects local heritage and blends with natural surroundings.
Prabowo stressed that integrating local wisdom will guide tourism development around Kabanaran Bridge, ensuring growth supports community identity and long-term sustainability.
