Indian Doctor’s 0 Medical Degree Sparks Online Racial Backlash in US | Firstpost America | N18G
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

An online debate erupted in the US after a social media post revealed that an Indian doctor’s medical education in India had cost $800. Some users questioned the legitimacy of such qualifications, with a few making unfounded claims about fraud and inadequate training. The discussion shifted to racial remarks targeting Indian doctors in the US. Indians hit back at the criticism and highlighted that medical education in India is heavily subsidised, highly competitive, and globally recognised. Reports show around 59,000 Indian doctors work in the US, comprising about 22% of immigrant physicians (as of 2024). The controversy comes amid ongoing debates over immigration and work visas in the US under President Trump. Watch this video for details.

Around 3 Million students fight for that 800$ scholarship lol. Even after passing mbbs these students have to pass several other exams in America. It's upto you if you want your doctor to be someone who spent 80k on a degree or someone who had to fight for that 800$ scholarship.

When these doctors boast about their qualifications and intelligence by mentioning the number of candidates who appeared in the examination and the cost of education, they forget to mention their caste and caste-based reservation system in these colleges, the manipulation they make in making their date of birth(DOB) certificates, there is 70% deficiency of staff in their government-funded medical colleges, OPDs are pathetic. Hence, they are a product of the corruption that exists in India. I am Indian and know very well about their so-called reputation and the manipulation these MBBS students make to get admissions in these colleges. To earn more money, they run to the USA. These medical graduates from India are rarely given any surgical jobs because of the pathetic condition of their minds and their corrupt attitude.

Come to India and compete for the seat, then go ahead and take up residency where the number of patients that an indian resident doctor attends to in a year may be equivalent to the number of patients that a highly qualified senior american doctor has attended to in his whole life😂

  12. @ilovewhenitRains_04 says:

i'm from india and thats not how it works in india.
the top 1% of students get to study in highly subsidized top ranked goverment universities.
the students that don't get the gov seats actually have to pay $100k-$400k for private medical universities.

so THAT means if he only payed $800 (sometimes even less than this)he's the best qualified and best trained doctor.

  13. @truthseeker9522 says:

Top Indian medical Colleges have a top competitive entrance to qualify to get a medical government MBBS seat . But the quality of learning in academics is excellent but less fees .
Please do not defame the Quality of education .
Indian doctors are going through USMLE in the US to practice.
Doubtful in quality then how they cracked the USMEL to US practice…

Americans probably are not able to understand that certain countries value education and that's why the meritorious students get highly subsidised education. Lower costs indicate higher merit unlike it works in USA.
It's okay to ask immigrants to assimilate in your culture, but if you allow immigration to satisfy various requirements of your country, it's essential for the Americans to be open to understand the cultural differences prevailing in the world to protect peace of your own country.

Indian government stem education is also highly subsidised in IITs and management in IIMs, you will start getting shocked when you compare it to your institutes. Only knowledge can help you understand various POVs.

Also if money is the requirement for the best institutes in the country then meritorious poor students will not get enough chances just by scholarships. So the bottom line is we want merit to be the number one factor in getting higher education not money. You find problems with that, you have fundamental issues to deal with.

They are talking about government medical college seat. It doesn’t cost 800$ exactly. The actual cost would be roughly 150000$ as it is heavily subsidized by the tax payer

Things I don't care about: How much my doctor paid to go to medical school.

Things I very much care about: My doctor's MCAT score and class rank.

I'd gladly go to a doc that paid zero for medical school if they got in because they scored in the top 5% and graduated in the top 10% of their class. OTOH, I don't want any doctor that scored 25% below the med school's minimum MCAT score but was admitted because of their skin color or reproductive organs and then given preferential treatment in residency matching because "we need more doctors that look like X".

800$ was spent by him as mere hostel and tuition fee, govt spends lakhs of rupees on every doctor studying from government medical college so it takes millions in making of each indian doctor,so 800$ is not the actual cost of their medical degree and the less you spend in india on education that means more talented you are , and you are getting scholarship from government,so yeah stop comparing everything from american education system and marking it as standard

It’s all coming from Trumps hate mafia group after the tariff war. Trump dictates his minions to rage an online hate fued against Indians and the good for nothing, internet trolls who are specifically paid for this stuff, flood the social media with their utter nonsense. I know a bunch of them making a lot of money just by trolling and replying to comments morning to night each day everyday.
