Brazil’s commitment to protect the environment is in question once again, this time for scuttling a warship in the Atlantic Ocean despite repeated calls by environmental groups to not go ahead with a move. The Brazilian authorities sunk a decommissioned aircraft carrier last week.

You could have put it as a museum and could have made money out of it !! Foolish act and shows zero commitment towards climate change. learn from India !!
This world and the waters will turn into a huge mess. Japan released nuclear waste, US messed up the Nord Stream, Brazil sunk the ship, US – EU dump toxic waste in Diego Garcia, and Chaina takes the crown..
Brazil can sell its warship as scrap to India ship scrap dealers. They can get money in return for scrap. No need to sink warship in water.
Deres no such thing as responsible polluting. Y wasn't it sent to Bangladesh ship yards to be cut up ? Prob. Was cheaper dis way.
CUDA been converted into a museum of sorts. Dis Brazilian govt is all upto shyt. Destroyed Amazon forests to plant palm oil trees !
Blady fool's Brazil government…
You are a curse for the nurture…
Shame on you…
Would have made a great nightclub!
Why they didn't put in Museum
Everything on that ship came from the Earth and it's going back to the Earth
Why the heck didn’t they strip the harmful parts and reef it? It works really well. Or maybe the ship is not appropriate for that? I don’t see why not. Excuse…too expensive?
I wish they just kept it as a Ship museum, local and tourist can pay to tour it.
They could’ve used it to make an awful lot of the razor Blades! “Recycle and reuse”…… Obviously, not a practice used in Brazil!
Did they remember to take the airplanes off the flight deck before they scuttled it? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Stupid is as stupid does.
They could have give it to a salvage and recycling company
Hypocritical Environmentalist Now Totally Blind.
Brazil might need that ship when America will invade them again
So blowing up a gas pipeline 😮
Another garbage bought by te PT, RES party
I do not get why there needs to be toxic substances on retired warships anyway? I mean, sure when it is in use, you can expect all kinds of things… tins of paint, wd40, etc etc… but all carry off items… so, when the ship is retired, you carry off all those items, no big deal at all.
The only other things i can think of will be oil and grease residue on mechanical parts, but that is not really toxic in small quantities.
Asbestos is also not really a 'toxic' substance as such either, … other than what it does inside your lung, it is quite inert in the natural environment.
So, mebe someone can explain to me what environmentalists are complaining about??
Wasn't the Sao Paulo formerly the French carrier foch, what a waste but they aren't the only ones that sink their old Warships Britain's done it using our old ships as target practice for subs, destroyers and frigates the Americans, French and other big countries of the world do it it's just wasteful
Damn, even Brazil has an aircraft carrier, Germany has what…that Bayern Munich ship, so you know who bought it lol. Looking great Germany. EU taking good care of you with England and Paris huh? Lol. Idiots.
It is at these moments that it is embarrassing to have your country mentioned, despite a ship that would make a great museum, and the ecological disaster with the dangerous contents inside the ship. 😢
