PRESTON IS LITERALLY VERBALIZING WHAT I FEEL ABOUT THIS “BALANCE” TEAM.
For me, I feel like GW2 has never been well supported with every concept/release being a half arsed implementation of a good idea. I was hopeful that End of Dragons might improve things but that's been dashed.
Lowering the skill floor means making it harder to start which is annoying cus I listen to all of the influencer be semilitterate.
As a support main I honestly think Arena Net should rework Tempest's Tempestuous Aria give 5s Alac instead of Might.
Heal Tempest's main trait is to take Elemental Bastion. WITHOUT it you are just Core Elementalist taking Tempest for Alacrity and nothing else.
It feels extremely bad to use current Lucid Singularity as it is in my opinion the worst way they could have implemented Alacrity.
Tempest is having to compete the following and in my opinion making Tempestuous Aria give 5s Alac instead of Might. would just be balanced. No proper utility only the best healing.
-Firebrand is great healer with easy access to quickness and high amount of stability options as well good aegis able to flex a lot.
-Scrapper is like Firebrand but not as powerful and missing aegis.
-Mechansit is one of the strongest healers as it also provides good Barrier on top of the healing but it lacks good self healing.
-Specter while being weak is fun build to heal and give Alac. You are able to provide all boons thanks to a well but you lack proper healing skills, single target healing is not enough and the AOE one is lacking as Shadow trait does not stack with wells even tough they are shadow steps tehcnically :<
-Druid has best utility for Raids but lacks stability for Raids and with new Alacrity they got free is much better what Tempest got. Druid would still be wanted even if Tempes was best healer.
-Scourge in my opinion is not a healer even tough some play it as healer. You should play full DPS Blood Magic Scourge for revives instead but that is my opinion.
-Chronomancer can heal but I don't think it is so amazing, bit better than scourge but neither of these should be your deticated healer unless all players are acually good then you can meme with it.
-Herald suffers the same fate as Tempest having to choose "boons heal" or Quickness :< but it is strong healer if you skip Quickness and take Dwarf with Healing you now can also give stability.
-Renegade might be able to heal thanks to core Revenant being able to heal but I have seen no heal revenants.
-Warrior got also same treatment as Herald and Tempest having to choose "Souths Heal" or Qucikness. Rip my MEME Dream of playing Quickness South Heal Warrior :<
So for Tempest you have both Druid and Mechanist as well tehcnically Firebrand to compete against. Having Alac with Elemental Bastion would in my opinion make Tempest to power level of Scrapper 🤔 but I'm not able to make change. But you know what? MightTeapot is able to effect the game. I honestly believe GW2 Content creators should make videos giving their two bits to help the devs and list their ideas how to fix Warrior and Elementalist … tough for Tempest you only move the stability from Lucid Singularity to Tempestuous Aria and in my honest opinion it would actually feel good for once. with 2 souths giving 5s Alac and 20% boonduration a DPS Tempest could upkeep perma Alac like Firebrand or Scrapper having to use 3 abilities for Alac 😁 it is dps loss as Healing skill cast time is slow hehe…
I personally think Tempest is simple to fix while Catalyst and Waver are harder … also if you add stab and/or aegis to core Ele that is going to buff Support Tempest … with my idea you would have one free utility slot as Heal Tempest to choose either Aegis (Deimos) or Stability depending what you need and you could run Glyph of Renewal just in case 😀
my problem with raids is my low self esteem. i dont want to be the one who fails the group and waste the time of others.
if i die and just waste my own time and struggle with something just like teapot explained with the olden time. but now im not only making me struggle i make others struggle and i waste others time because i (at least think) am not good enough but i cant get better without training and i cant train this content without making others suffer due to my incompetence
The segregation between Experienced and Training for Strike Missions reminds me of the elitism in WoW with RaiderIO – if you don't have exp. you can't join so, by an extend, you won't gain exp. anyways.
That was a dumb move from ANet and it will make most players to avoid that content.
Thank you Emi for saying I'm a toxic minority <3. I guess HTcm is fine just being content to watch, not biased at all coming from a streamer. To anyone saying "lul you have the normal mode, go do that" guess what, there could be a middle ground between trivial and impossible, KOcm is an example.

Just imagine that your account (much like magic find) each time you clear a raid boss you get a personal "buff of knowledge" that is like 1% increased damage, health or healing depending on the bosses for that particular fight with a cap of like 15 to 20% (which would mean you'd have to clear 20 times for that 1% increase to hit the cap).
I like the checkpoint idea for HT CM. These 10-15 minute fights are so annoying when you have an issue with one of the later phases, but you can't get the pulls in to practice them.
What sneb is describing at 2:42:40 also counts for people criticizing the game. I don't mean to say sneb is at fault, but if the whole youtube comminty, forums and reddit are negative, people become more negative even if they weren't before just by reading that. It becomes a negative spiral.
Compare our reddit/community to FFXIV. Even if there is a content lull in that game, the reddit is positive and people stay positive. Sometimes too much, but the overall perspective people get is "good game" when visiting their community.

As an Elementalist and warrior main for almost 10 years, we have been stepped on by anet for so long, i feel beaten and have surrendered to their abuse. But fortunately for the vocal few who voice out their discontentment for us who remain quiet that gets changes made. and hopefully for the better. (like they even really care) We feel like that child in the family that gets the blown out candle to suck on while the siblings get to eat the cake. Elementallydamaged

It would be hype to get Harvest CM level content even just once or twice a year, and I hope that such a development cycle would be sustainable
Emi is a good host but honestly not having her cat as the guest instead of her was just wrong. Sneb also isn’t worthy of teatime seeing as he’s not anet partner so idk why his opinion matters.
Gw2 hard content is great. It attracts those kinds of players and streams. BUT most people play the game solo and the hard part for me would more being getting 10 competent people together. Solution? Put out solo content this hard also. Make rewards super cool.
Think fire cape and jad in runescape. Solo content like that can carry an entire game.

man, I didn't expect that section in the end questioning Sneb on his feelings about his heart and his content. If you say that "what he does is toxic" when he literally helps people achieve something good? Bitch, you could never.
The entire concept of "balance" is BS to begin with.
The devs are intent on murdering their own game.
GW2 is buy once and then runs on cash shop purchases, advertising, etc, right?
So, new player starts playing. Then, finds out that legendary weapons are gated behind pvp. In GW2, it's WvW pvp… but it's pvp. Don't pvp? You don't get your legendary weapon unless you pay over $200 for enough gems to convert to gold to buy a legendary gen 1 off the trading post. Or, you could try to grind out enough gold, over months and months, to afford it off the trading post… IF one is even being sold on it. There is ONE legendary gen 1 longbow it… for what would cost $240 of gems converted to gold to buy.
So, balance? WHAT balance? It's pvp over pve at the moment since legendary weapons/armor is gated behind the pvp. That is imbalanced from the start.
Class balance? Yeahhhhh… because of pvp.
It always comes back to pvp screwing everything up doesn't it?

I think warrior quickness should come from spellbreaker full counter only. Quickness should be decoupled from banners.

Josh Strife Hayes recently explained this pretty well in his video on Adversity.
Players are averse to adversity naturally, and its a lack of choice that enables them to ‘put up with it’, but these days the market is so saturated that a player generally doesn’t have to tolerate difficulty, so a developer has to cater towards that general preference or lose DAUs.
About HT CM, even though I'll probably never kill it, knowing that I'm not at the end of the road and that it expands further and that I have something that I have to work forwards to is vital for long term longevity of the game
About balance (again) I don't want to play tempest without heal on auras. It's stupid, it's the spec mechanic and what makes it unique…

The idea of endgame (hard) content not being there like in Gw2 for quite some time it's just outrageous. Even if u more casual player or care more about the game, both type of players SHOULD want ANY content added to the game that's first thing. Then second one is that there HAS to be always new hard content to hype up the already hooked on the game type of players. No one reaaally cares about new map if it's gonna be just another which isn't visited BUT it's still a content that will get played so it's okay. And personally I don't give a fudge if majority will never get to play the hard content, if u care enough u will get to it. Is simple as that, if u don't care about that content it means u don't care about the game enough at the end of the day at which point why should devs give the attention and care back to those people?
in my honest opinion it is absolutly fine to critique the game. so anything that sneb has said i can get behind. but holy shit preston just has one bad faith argument after another, THAT is toxic.

The "not being able to beat the game" thing is real in mythic raiding in wow. With BIS gear it isn't THAT hard but it's hard enough that many many groups who start the raid will hit a boss they strictly cannot kill, or take so long thst they can't finish the tier before the next release. This is completely fine and expected, it creates aspirational content for many players. You want to get better to kill more bosses and push for that CE. Once you have CE consistently all you can do is go for world rank which is a much more nebulous goal and much much more related to how many hours you raid and how hardcore your raiders are (although raw skill and organisation are still huge factors, liquid would be world top 10 without day raiding at all for example). I honestly like that even as a midcore player there are still goals for me
Reaching the Soo Won phase could unlock a checkpoint to directly start with Zaithan or Mordremoph.
Can you increase the volume a bit?
I've noticed this recently. It is too low volume compared to the rest… of the world. I always have to increase volume, and sometimes something else makes noise on PC and it is super loud.
Anyway, 2:26:00 is where I'm at now, lol
I think HT CM type of content should be the start of content like Ultimates in FF14. Just insanely hard content in the game that really pushes what the combat system is capable of just for the top 100 players in the game to enjoy and have the rest of the fanbase watch and cheer.
