how RARE is snow in Brazil depends on your definition of rare.
It snows every year in Brazil in the southernmost states.
But only a few days per year. And at most 2 or 3 days you get accumulation that lasts till noon.
Every 5 years in average you get widespread snowfalls, reaching many cities and with more accumulation… happening one or two days.
So, if that is your definition of rare, ok
Outside the three southernmost states, snow is REALLY RARE.
In the 3 southernmost capitals, snow is REALLY rare (Porto Alegre and Florianópolis are at sea level and Curitiba is at 800m but much closer to the tropic of Capricorn).
If the definition is snow in towns, it's not rare. Many small towns see snow every year.
If the definition is snow in larger cities, then it's more rare, but not that much. Caxias do Sul gets snow accumulation once in a while (like every 3 years) and it has half a million people. Bento Gonçalves and Vacaria have over 100 thousand people.
