A B.C. woman is speaking out about etiquette and enforcement, after recording a video of shocking backcountry behaviour.
Kristena Owen and a group of friends captured the scene over the weekend, after paddleboarding to one of the East Beach camping sites on Alouette Lake in Golden Ears Provincial Park, B.C.
The 18-site backcountry camp spot, she said, was overrun by a group of 60 to 80 partiers and the mess they had made.

What a karen
Why do people insist on ruining a good thing?
Yep, FK the drinking class!
当然是印度了,他们把咖喱体味和腋臭带到了加拿大,他们把更多的德里人带到了加拿大 😂🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Its because we aren't supportive and inclusive enough.
This is Canada…home of the most entitled people. This type of attitude is in every other person…get used to it.
It actually does not look messy at all. There is just a lot of stuff because of the large group. The trash is bagged up! The boats are lined up. The tents are lined up and tidy. Coolers are lined up. KAREN!
Ya, probably no camping on the beach, & a large group, & loud/ late music, & washing dishes in the lake is all wrong though.
People commenting that it wasn't done like this back in the day: are you kidding me?! The camping parties of the 70-80 were crazy!
I reside in Ontario, where we face similar challenges regarding environmental disrespect. Having lived here for over 40 years, camping has become a cherished family tradition. We prioritize responsible behavior, as our children learned survival skills through scouting, emphasizing the importance of respecting nature, which is invaluable in Canada and must be safeguarded. We adhere to the principle of leaving campsites and beaches in better condition than we found them. Those who have disrespected Golden Ears Provincial Park should not only face fines but also be mandated to participate in a two-week cleanup to restore the dignity of this beautiful park.
I know it was probably wrong for those campers to do what they did but to get this on the news and the media and to report it to the police is another thing because you know they won't do anything about it. Next thing you know they'll be $25,000 fines just for wanting to hike out in the bush. You know the system will play on these kind of situations just to create laws to make it worse for everybody else.
Diversity is our Strength.
But have they found the kulpreets yet?
These are very well off people with lots of expendable income. If you look closely, you can see the "culture" at fault.
I'm so old I remember when 'camping' meant leaving no trace. Leaving it cleaner than when you got there was even better. These people aren't campers, they're consumers.
When this happens too often parks will close to camping. Alternatively people should be charged a deposit of $500 per person in advance for the clean-up. If you leave a clean site you get your deposit back. But of course there's 25% of folks who would load up their vehicle and drop their crap elsewhere.
This is why so much of our country is closed or off limits to the people. The past 30 yrs or so has been a Heartbreaker to see how it has changed.
One of the many reasons we chose to purchase and live on an acerage
60-80 people? How did they book campsites?
This is just normal deal at golden ears, all down the lake no rules exist. I have complained to BCParks and they just respond with excuses. Many of the responses are we don't have any money and we don't have a boat.
So with that people just go hog wild because no enforcement exists.
Absolutely no respect for others…….what goes around comes around.
Woke up one day and our beautiful country was gone. This is the new reality across Canada and it will only get worst ! What a shame our politicians and policy makers are.
people go camping to actually have peace and listening to the sounds of nature , not bringing the loudness of the cities, get them out of there , get them of the beach , that is not a camp site but for everyone to enjoy
This Stinks Of Curry?
that’s not a camp site, it’s a homeless camp
😂😂 Karen spotted and stupid campers lol
THIS IS WHERE THE AVERAGE PERSON WANTS BYLAW / COPS TO BE.
People! Raise your kids appropriately! This is a mess! Canada 🇨🇦 is a clean couple. Shame on YOU!
We need CCTV!
Maybe we need the rangers for those people, not for the tortured wildlife anymore? 😮
But why would we think young people will be respectful when they are taught they are most important and have no consequences?
I probably would have joined them huahahehohohihuheheh
It's called respect and the younger generation has none
Deport!
We all no what’s going on in Canada but nobody is doing anything about it.
Hefty fines are deterrents. It worked a lot in UAE specially Dubai. It is additional revenue.
Bloody disgusting. Canada is no longer.
Alouette lake is notorious for scrubs making a mess & making to much noise exactly why I’d never camp anywhere near Vancouver again . And I’m not telling you where I’d go either that’s confidential and exactly why it’s still scumbag 🆓!
😂
No need investigation, the evidence is there. Come on.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Look at our cities – you see degradation and squalor in every park or urban green space and you're supposed to keep your mouth shut and put up with it. Why would we expect it to be any different in the woods? Government has allowed a complete lack of respect for anything or anyone to infect our society.
Kids getting wasted before school starts. Why not just leave lady? They ain't leaving.
whats the back ground of these 60 people ? don't sound like gathering of introverts its more like ''herd'' nothing wrong with showing faces of race of human species migrated to another reality with mind of origin .
Issue them Challan and Penalty for various reasons.
I bet they go to music festivals and leave all there tents behind
God damn punks
Show us the campers! All those ppl but not one shot of them? I smell a rat
The rangers should have been on site making sure the rules of proper conduct were happening. The people should be banned from our parks as they have no respect for others or for our environment.
Lake karen
That site is no where near the paid camp sites and no garbage was left afterwards. These poeple r just looking for things to complain about
This is pretty easy to deal with. Blast your own music at 7 am while
they’re trying to sleep off the hangover. Then mock them as
as they stumble off to puke in the bushes. Get your kids to annoy them with screaming and playing. Fight fire with fire
If it's too loud … you're too old!
hello.
i am a child camper from here and i will explain.
BASICALLY, yes it looks dirty. our group there has been camping there for above 11 YEARS, and nothing was wrong. after we always clean up when we’re done, and we make it spotless. we would never leave the world like this.
there is garbages in the corner if u can see it, there is a garbage chute to, when we leave the site we have bags of garbages and put it in the garbage chute. ABSOLUTELY NO GARBAGE IS LEFT!
there’s lots of kids that’s there and I play with most of them, so yes it will be messy, but we always clean it up afterwards.
like of course it will be messy there’s kids especially me!! and rangers came to our campsite and just talked about the food and that’s there’s bears! we weren’t in trouble at all.
this video is honestly rude and misleading. for ppl to say that we “didn’t clean up” “we’re nasty” and things like that when they don’t know the true story..
