The Marijuana Justice Coalition, a gaggle of civil rights and hashish reform organizations, has despatched a letter to Home management calling for a vote on laws this month that might legalize marijuana on the federal stage.
The letter was despatched yesterday to Speaker of the Home Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Home Majority Chief Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).
H.R. 3617, higher often called the Marijuana Alternative Reinvestment and Expungement (“MORE”) Act of 2021, removes hashish from the checklist of federally managed substances, expunges federal marijuana convictions, and gives support to these harmed by the Struggle on Medicine.
“Briefly, the resounding shift in favor of marijuana reform demonstrates what we’ve got been saying: marijuana justice is a profitable difficulty and it’s long gone time for the federal authorities to catch up,” the letter states.

The same legalization invoice can be being drafted within the Senate with Majority Chief Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) spearheading that effort. In February, he mentioned he deliberate on introducing the laws in April.
